Dear god! So many people are to blame here, from the parents to the school! 
The way we handle it here is no child may be picked up by anyone unless the persons name is on the childs green form.
And for that poor little baby to just go with a stranger, goodness. I think they need to be reviewing "Don't talk or go with strangers" with him

An interesting point, especially in view of a case that I believe is before the European courts, in that if your car is caught on a speed camera in the UK, you are obliged to tell the police who was driving.
Apprantly the UK government are arguing that your rights of silence and rights to avoid self incrimination do not count in cases like this.

It does seem a total fuss about nothing - though the BBC do have a big thing about not showing impartiality, so maybe that's where it's come from as a Crucifix is (pardon the pun) nailing your colours to the mast really...
