Police keep canine hitchhiker in custody
Author: janbo1960 :: Posted: Fri Oct 06, 2006 10:54 pm
A dog remains in police custody in Victoria after jumping into a vehicle last night and refusing to get out.

The driver of the vehicle opened his car door at an outer suburban Melbourne shopping centre and the staffordshire bull terrier hopped inside.

The man unsuccessfully attempted to lure the dog from the car, before deciding to drop the dog at a nearby police station.

The brindle-coloured animal, called Chevy, has no registration tag.

Croydon police are now appealing for the owners to collect their pet.

Abducted by aliens - call now for compensation
Author: janbo1960 :: Posted: Fri Oct 06, 2006 10:53 pm
A German lawyer hopes to drum up more business by pursuing state compensation claims for people who believe they were abducted by aliens.

"There's quite obviously demand for legal advice here," Jens Lorek told Reuters.

"The trouble is, people are afraid of making fools of themselves in court."

Mr Lorek, a lawyer based in the eastern city of Dresden who specialises in social and labor law, said he hoped to expand his client base by taking on the unusual work.

He has yet to win any abduction claims, but says there are plenty of potential clients, noting that extra-terrestrial watchdogs report scores of alien assaults every year.

"These people could appeal for therapies or cures," he said.

Apple Computers is laying legal claim to the term "pod," used in words like "podcast." Here are some other items Apple is trying to claim as its own:

    Human silhouettes
    Several thousand Chinese children
    Thinking differently
    The last slice of pizza
    The term "tunes"
    Any Granny Smith with a bite taken out of it
    The concept of sharing
    The pronoun "I"; Effective immediately Apple will collect royalties from anyone referring to oneself in this manner

Good to see the police are ready and willing to show such a forceful approach when there's only 2000 people there. The costs of policing comes directly from the tax-payer of course. Tax payers paying to make sure that the freedom to protest goes in tandem with the fear to speak out... the american dream?

As I recall this is the second suspension for Yvonee, and I'm pissed that some arsehole made a decision that it was okay for that toerag to humiliate a homeless person but it wasn't okay for a copper to show him what it was like Mad
