WE do have our own parliament now - it came in 1997 under the description of "devolution"

I didn't realize that. Certainly sounds like independence would be a good thing. Can't Scotland just be nice neighbours with England?

well that's the idea - the original Union was in order to create economic prosperity, but as that is now assured there's no real need to continue it.

I really hope it happens and it's long overdue. It might change things for us as well although I can't see that happening too quickly if at all. It would really give a lot of us hope though.

Another thing it would do is rid Northern Ireland of all the traitors. I'm sure they'd want to leave and that would be alright with the rest of us. It'd be like having...

Balkans brawl mars Australian Open opening
Monday, 15 Jan 2007 08:42

The opening day of the Australian Open has been marred by a brawl between rival Serbian and Croatian supporters in Melbourne. More than 150 spectators were ejected from the Rod Laver Arena but no arrests were made by Victoria state police.A force spokesperson said that two groups of fans wearing national colours had been separated before serious fighting broke out, with no arrests being made or injuries sustained. "They were mostly Serbians ejected as they were upsetting the Croatians. Police are now meeting with Tennis Australia officials to work out the next move."

Melbourne has large Croatian and Serbian populations, with the former today seeing compatriots Mario Ancic, Karolina Sprem and Ivan Ljubicic in action, while Serbian Jelena Jankovic also played. Security personnel will be on high alert tomorrow when Serbia's Ilia Bozolojac plays Croatian Marin Cilic.

Responding to the incident, Tennis Australia chief executive Steve Wood insisted that any fans behaving unacceptably will have their tickets confiscated. "We hope that today's well coordinated response sends a clear...

To me, this sounds like a totally hoaky plot line and it's a pretty pathetic way to write them out of the show. It sounds more like a corny plot from some American Soap.

Celtic to bid for Beckham?
Author: IRiSHMaFIA :: Posted: Sat Jan 13, 2007 5:31 pm
The Los Angeles Galaxy have completed arguably the biggest transaction in MLS history Thursday, signing midfielder David Beckham from Real Madrid.

Beckham has agreed to a five-year deal with the Galaxy. He'll join the club during the summer transfer window after his contract with Real expires on June 30.

"This week, Real Madrid asked me to make a decision regarding my future and the offer to extend my contract by a further two seasons," Beckham said in a statement. "After discussing several options with my family and advisers to either stay here at Madrid or join other major British and European clubs, I have decided to join the Los Angeles Galaxy and play in the MLS from August this year.

"I am proud to have played for two of the biggest clubs in football and I look forward to the new challenge of growing the world's most popular game in a country that is as passionate about its sport as my own."

The move was made possible by the November implementation of the league's Designated Player rule, which states that a club may sign one player at a salary above the league maximum, with the league...

Heck, the used to use special coins in the Roman times for prostitutes who spoke different languages from the Roman soldiers. Each coin would have a different sexual act on it and a time limit for it. These were very valuable coins to the soldiers!

It's hard for me to think of coins being used for regarding sexual acts... since ours has the Queen on it Smile

And we've got dead presidents! Sad

Eww! I never thought of that!

The idea of it!

That's pretty good they can do this for a dog - next step, parents who feed their kids so much that they become grossly overweight. Imagine a dog having better protection against this type of abuse than children?

I was thinking the exact same thing!! Very interesting article.

I once had a cat that was overweight. I couldn't figure out why, despite changing her diet, she wasn't losing weight. Turns out my clever feline had worked out how to open the container where the dog's food was kept! She was snacking away on the dog food, that cheeky kitty!
