You're exactly right, faceless.

You probably know this already - but it's called "overselling". Anyone can become a web host just by purchasing a reseller account from a current host and inserting their own details into a template site that handles the sign-ups. Most of the hosting sites out there that offer things like 250 GB transfer per month for $5.00, or similar, are overselling like crazy, and if you were to actually use the amount of transfer they pretend to offer, it would cripple them.

I've had plenty of experience with web hosting in the past and I've been lucky enough to have got good advice from people to stop me blundering into mistakes. The bottom line is that you get what you pay for, and if a host offers 250 GB a month for 5 dollars, it is without question a scam. They rely on people signing up and then not using anywhere near that amount, and if someone signs up who really needs that much transfer, then they're going to get ripped off.

The customer can't do a thing about it, either, because their copied and pasted Terms Of Service will always include the...

Well, that kind of says it all doesn't it?

Oddly enough, whilst relating this to my wife, she said exactly the same thing...

I think that can be added as:

The Power of Nightmares
Author: tec :: Posted: Sun Dec 31, 2006 1:16 am
I don't know if this is considered reality TV, but it sure was for me. In the U.S. we have daily programming called C-Span. It is the only honest presentation about politics in the U.S. and offers callers to voice their opinions on selected subjects or open sessions some days. There are also guest speakers each day on all political topics, both political parties. All cable/satellite companies are "required" to provide it to all subscribers. It's 3 hours, early AM so I record it.

Yesterday, while looking around The Couch I heard a gentlemen call in and said that Terrorism was something the U.S. had "invented" and that the BBC had done an expose' on the Al Queda & Mid-East terrorism. He suggested people to Google, "The Power of Nightmares" and try to find the 3 videos as "they will NEVER be shown in the U.S." he stated.

Piqued my interest and shortly I found the article below. Bit more searching and found the series still being seeded on Mininova.org. I was surprised as it is nearly a year since shown in the U.K. So d/l...

I can't be much more specific, other than to say I think it was the first time he mentioned paying back the American war debt. He said he had only discovered that the UK were still paying for it. It's a pity you can't do word searches on audio files! I think it was within the last month. I will find it eventually.
