Tulisa

she hasnt had a very good week at all that is right it is the rap pop singer who knows all of the drug smugglers and her name is called tulisa contostavanatacalatancalatoz. when i was having a look at the newspapers in the shop 2 days ago i saw that she has got herself in to some really big trouble because she has been helping lots of people to get some drugs for themselfs but she said that she doesnt take any of the drugs for herself because she doesnt want to ruin her own life and she just prefers to help other people ruin their own lifes instead because it is a lot less hassle for her and i think that if she wants to get out of the mess that she is in then she just needs to stop being friends with so many drug smugglers and i think that she just needs to get back to what she does best and that is working in schuh in town because when i used to see her in there before she was famous she always looked so happy and she...

Al Murray: Comedy’s role is to lampoon politics, not to champion it
Ian Burrell

3rd of June 2013

Al Murray, the comic behind the stand-up creation The Pub Landlord, has criticised as “ridiculous” other comedians who embrace political views. In the wake of comments by a BBC commissioning editor that there was a dearth of right-wing comics in broadcasting, Murray spoke of his annoyance at being branded a “lefty”. “I have never run my colours up any particular mast and I wouldn’t,” he said.

In an interview with The Independent, Murray said that comedy’s role was to lampoon politics, not to champion it. “Comics have got to find it all ridiculous and send all of it up,” he said. “The minute you take sides you are not doing that. You put one lead boot on and you will no longer be able to prick everybody. We are supposed to be mischievous and think they are all ghastly.”

Murray was speaking out ahead of the move of his BBC radio show, 7 Day Sunday, to the Saturday schedule on Radio 5 Live. Although the show is news-based, he...

The Dark Side of Liberation
JENNIFER SCHUESSLER

The soldiers who landed in Normandy on D-Day were greeted as liberators, but by the time American G.I.’s were headed back home in late 1945, many French citizens viewed them in a very different light.

In the port city of Le Havre, the mayor was bombarded with letters from angry residents complaining about drunkenness, jeep accidents, sexual assault — “a regime of terror,” as one put it, “imposed by bandits in uniform.” This isn’t the “greatest generation” as it has come to be depicted in popular histories. But in “What Soldiers Do: Sex and the American G.I. in World War II France,” the historian Mary Louise Roberts draws on French archives, American military records, wartime propaganda and other sources to advance a provocative argument: The liberation of France was “sold” to soldiers not as a battle for freedom but as an erotic adventure among oversexed Frenchwomen, stirring up a “tsunami of male lust” that a battered and mistrustful population often saw as a second assault on its sovereignty and dignity.

“I could not believe what I was reading,”...

In Cars

I just love that Hailey and Roy Cropper on Corrie have the same car that Jim and Dot had on EE. Roy is such an old soul, it is the perfect car for him. And Dot and Jim are just...well, old. So it is a funny turn of play that they were the ones to get a new car!

Serious games, which have addressed issues as varied as the Middle East conflict through to sexual coercion among teenagers, have gained the attention of governments around the world. But can they really directly affect the issues they cover?

youtube embedded playlists not working...
Author: faceless :: Posted: Fri May 17, 2013 1:38 am
I just noticed that youtube playlists stopped working with whatever update they've done recently (it also has this new 'tag' option in the control bar). Anyway, it turns out that it was the new imageshack firefox plugin that I'd added today which was causing the problem...
