This doesn't ring true for me - how high was the plane when it dropped 'the cash', while aiming at such a narrow target? The wind could have easily blown it off course from that height, which the pilot must have realised. I suppose he might have been scared of being shot at though, but still...

Plane, I too find very hard to believe. Helicopter... doable. But the whole thing seems a bit simple. I need to find out more about these pirates because it seems that ask for a ransom on land = no chance of getting away with it. Steal some oil on the water = free lunch. Maybe there will be/is more to it.
