UK Talking Clock is now Tinkerbell

Post by nekokate »

I kid you not. This ain't a badly timed April Fool's Day post. If you're in the UK and you ring #123 for the Talking Clock, it's now Tinkerbell from Peter Pan. What the fuck?

It's kind of nuts phoning the speaking clock nowadays when you can get the exact time from so many places without paying 30p.

Where would you get the exact time? Getting it from TV or radio is a bad idea as there's always a delay in digital broadcasts of up to 2 seconds.

True on the delay, although how many people need to be accurate to 2 seconds?

I was thinking more of web based clocks.

Eg. my mobile phone and laptop update themselves automatically.

I googled clock and one of them on the 1st page is

https://www.poodwaddle.com/worldclock.swf

You can sit there coming to terms with how utterly insignificant you are whilst watching the stats of people dying...

Cute but I can see how it might get annoying if you were hearing it all the time.
