Women have been giving birth this way for many years --- if you think about it, it's really a more natural position. Laying on a bed with feet in stirrups is for the dr's convenience and no one elses.

i remember seeing a 70s documentary of a woman giving birth...it put me right off my ravioli it did..i was around 7 years old...

she was birthing standing up too...i remember he walking around stiffly going "ooooooooo-ooooohhhhhhhh" and then squeezing occasionally..

as a youngster - i was most surprised at what happen next...and i was just watching it cos you could see her bum...
