Chaos on Coronation Street as Mel and Abi jumped by gang of teenage girls
29th July 2008[/align]
A night out on the town turns into a life and death ordeal for Mel Morton and her friend WPC Abi Sharpe, played by Emma Edmondson and Rachael Elizabeth respectively. The pair are set upon by a gang of teenage girls who beat them black and blue in an unprovoked attack. One vicious assailant shows no mercy as she stamps on Abi's head while her helpless victim lies unconscious on the pavement. The gang then runs off, leaving Abi for dead.

Looks a bit more violent than when Jay got attacked in EE. Is Corrie gonna be allowed to show this before 9pm?

I'm guessing it will be on one of the 8:30 shows, but we'll see. That girl with the checked shirt looks like she's really getting into the role eh? haha

I know I've read before that EE was trying to show the growing trend of teenaged gang attacks, has it really gotten that bad in the UK? I know it's getting more commonplace here in the States, especially against the homeless.

I don't think it's got a lot worse to be honest, it just gets reported more often. The main problem is cheap alcohol, and also in England (not Scotland) you can basically drink 24hrs a day so that has an impact.
