I've got friends who were completely disowned for not supporting their father's team... they haven't spoken properly in 20 years or more.

madness!

You know, I just don't get this. I never will. Like Face mentioned, family members won't talk to each other over this.

To me it's as bad as shouting at a TV or movie screen during a show. Not only is it just a game but they can't hear you.

I shout at the tv a fair bit - it's the only way I can get through episodes of Eastenders!

 But we still love you :P

However, I do think there is a difference in the serious level at the shouting at the TV, movies or even games.

Well, I do that too... any true Canadian will  But I will admit to yelling at the tv after a particularly bad move/goal or a good fight.

Yep, I yell at the tv too (with as bad as the Lightning are playing, I can't really repeat anything I yell, but suffice it to say I do...). The funny part is, I am pretty quiet when I go to games. Weird....
I heard about this story on CNN HL this morning and I watched the father try to weasel out of it and try to make it sound sensible. "I knew that it started to upset him, that's why I let him out."...What a guy!
