I personally have loved the introduction of Heather (even though she has been there for a while) and of Vinnie.
However, their purpose just doesn't seem to be working for me. They are both there to help show a softer side of Shirley, our embittered, hawk-nosed, leather hand bag of a woman. It's not happening. I still find her as lovable as a cactus. I think Shirley should be ditches as there is really no use to her now that all the Kevin Clan is going to be gone.
1. Her unrequited love of cheese.
2. She's a romantic at heart.
3. She uplifts her friends when they need it and is always encouraging those around her.
4. She's not afraid to be fashion-forward.
5. She is not afraid to stop a car thief.
6. She always sees the bright side of everything.
I agree - Heather is fantastic. Loved her looking like one of the Blues Brothers the other day...and her incessant yearning for Gary. I also like how they have finally showed Vinnie to be a regular guy. The two of them definitely lighten Shirley up but not sure why we need Shirley at all now if her offspring aren't there. Now, who else could Vinnie fall for?
