Losing the plot: Actor Sid Owen's girlfriend, actress Polly Parsons, lost the plot when a female fan called him 'Ricky', the name of his former EastEnders character, and bashed her boyfriend with her handbag

As his downtrodden EastEnders character, Ricky Butcher, Sid Owen was used to regular ear-bashings but life imitated art when his real-life girlfriend turned on him in spectacular style. In a scene reminiscent of Bianca and Ricky's public rows in Albert Square his partner and actress Polly Parsons, 24, tore strips off her beau as they left Essex night club Faces in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Onlookers said she lost her temper after a young woman smoking outside shouted "Hi Ricky" at her 36 year-old boyfriend. The furious actress started shouting at her boyfriend and hitting him with her silver clutch bag. An onlooker said: "Two doormen tried to restrain her. She went mad. She started hitting the doormen with the bag before turning on her boyfriend."

Tired and emotional: A doorman had to restrain actress Polly after she went on the rampage with her handbag

Two bouncers were needed to restrain her as she was bundled towards her waiting car. Passersby said she was still shrieking and pummelling Owen with her handbag as the car pulled away. The couple met in a fairy tale fashion last Christmas when they appeared in a St Albans pantomime together starring as Prince Charming and Snow White.

Owen returned to the EastEnders set yesterday to begin filming after a six year break from the show. His character Ricky is being reunited with Patsy Palmer's Bianca Jackson prompting speculation that their turbulent on-screen relationship could be rekindled.

Other than complete insanity, I am not sure what would cause the girlfriend to be mad let alone mad at him. Jealousy -- he has had a longer career? She wants to be on EastEnders?

It is not like he had any control...It takes a weird personality to be an actor, so she must be a great one!

I see Patsy Palmer is still looking ugly as ever. If Ricky gets back with her, it's because he's had his eyes plucked out in a crazy mechanic freak accident....not that he's a looker either. I will enjoy both their characters back on Eastenders though.

Ain't that the truth! She's a nag in both senses of the word! And he isn't much of a prize himself. However, I can't wait to see them both back on.

I remember when I started watching she was in the center of one of her bigger story lines. One of the reasons I started watching.

They were during my "dark ages" when I didn 't have access. Rickey was on when I first got EE back, but no Bianca, she was already gone. I am excited to see what they are all about.
