In a remarkably generous act, the Hilton fortune has been pledged to charity. What a shame that the link that led me to the story was labled "Paris loses out".

hahaha. All kidding aside though, the first thing that comes to mind is the power of marketing. I'm 54 and up until about five years ago, when you heard the name Hilton, you associated it with *Hilton Hotels*, *Conrad Hilton* or *luxury* only. They were an esteemed, and reputable monied family.
Sadly, because we have had Paris shoved up our asses waist deep, non-stop over the last several years, when you hear the name Hilton you associate it with, well, $hit and that's sad.
So...although I don't think this helps the family image, I am impressed with the spirit of the generosity.
