STREET CHARMER
Brian Roberts 26/06/2007
TV VETERAN Keith Barron is joining Corrie as an ageing romeo. The popular 71-year-old is "thrilled" at landing the role of charmer George Trench and has joked he can't believe it's taken a lifetime of acting to finally make The Street. Dad-of-two Keith shot to fame in the 80s as womanising David Pearce in hit sitcom Duty Free and has since appeared in countless TV dramas.
He got a rousing welcome from the Corrie cast when he started filming his first episode yesterday. It will be screened next month. George arrives for the funeral of Norris Cole's ex-wife Angela and makes an impact with the spinsters and widows. A source said: "It's a fair bet Rita (Barbara Knox) and Blanche (Maggie Jones) will battle it out for his attention."

I missed this news last week - good to hear though, he's bound to be smoother than melted chocolate... and I've got a funny feeling that Ken Barlow will be his nemesis - haha
