200 complaints for Eastenders

Post by carmelina »

UPDATE: 200 PEOPLE have complained to the BBC about last night’s EastEnders, in which pregnant Dawn was chained to a bed by crazed Dr May, who told the terrified girl she was going to cut her unborn baby out of her.

Kara Tointon’s character Dawn feared for her life at the hands of Dr May, who is married to Rob Minter, the father of Dawn’s baby.

Dawn managed to escape after grabbing a scalpel from the bonkers GP, played by Amanda Drew.

There were an initial 80 complaints overnight but a steady trickle of unhappy viewers have contacted the BBC on Tuesday morning. A dozen got in touch with Ofcom directly.

The plotline about the rivalry between the two women has already been the subject of controversy, with storylines being rewritten last month because of similarities with the real-life case of Madeleine McCann.

A BBC spokesman said: “Last night’s episode involving the characters Dawn, May and Rob reached the climax that many viewers would have been anticipating.

“We are sorry if some people were offended by this drama unfolding, and will be addressing complaints fully in due course.”

8.9 million tuned in, a one million improvement on Monday night the week before.

For fuck sake. It's a show. And people have done that and worse in real life. Get over it people.

I actually found it to be spot-on with the whole "Mad May" storyline. A great episode, IMO!

I loved that episode! It was one of the best I've seen in a long time. 200 people that have nothing going on in their lives.

Get over it people....... it's not as if they were saying to people "go out and do this"...... if people can't distinguish this from reality, then they have bigger issues in life.

Maybe they think all the bloodshed in numerous movies is real too!

And I think anyone in that situation would attack someone who has manacled them to a bed and told them they intend to cut them open and take their baby. You'd have to do whatever it takes to escape. I know I would!

I absolutely loved Monday's and Tuesday's EE episodes - actually think they have been the best in a very long time! I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen in the next episode on Monday! Don't understand the issues people might have had with it - as mentioned previously there are a lot worse things on TV than that!
