Corrie crimper returns to Weatherfield

Post by carmelina »

Nikki Sanderson will return to Coronation Street at the end of the year as Cobbles crimper Candice Stowe.

The 23-year-old actress who played hairdresser Candice for six years before quitting in 2005 after reportedly feeling sidelined by producers makes her Weatherfield return for the wedding of best friend Sarah-Louise Platt (Tina O'Brien).

An insider told The Mirror: "She was a big favourite with viewers and her character is one of the sexiest we've had in recent years. It's great to have her back."

Speaking of her return, Nikki said: "I absolutely adore the show and everything to do with it.

"It was just a case of wanting to spread my wings and try something new when I left."

Her autumn return plot has not yet been written, although producers hope to give her storylines which will make up for the show losing Tina O'Brien, who makes her exit at the end of the year.

My goodness, I couldn't stand her. I was glad to see her go. Oh well. Can they bring Fred back from the dead? I liked him...lol!

Guess that won't happen - I like Fred, too.

Now, if Corrie were an American soap, he could be lost in the jungle with amnesia OR have a long-lost identical twin brother .... the possibilities are endless!

He could have been the ghost of Fred from some of the current American soaps I've seen lately......lol!

Just remembered - Sarah recently went to Candice's wedding. Does that mean that Candice will be returning to the street with her new hubby in tow?

well it seems they didn't get round to her return storyline after all... unless I was very drunk and missed the whole thing! Here's some news about her anyway.

A warm Heartbeat welcome awaits Coronation Street's Nikki Sanderson
By Charles Heslett

Former Coronation Street cutie Nikki Sanderson looks forlorn as she sits by the side of a road. But her legions of fans need not worry that the 23-year-old's career has gone down a bit of cul-de-sac since she left one of Britain's biggest soaps. Nikki will play Dawn Bellamy, niece of the late Phil Bellamy, in the drama, made by Yorkshire Television and shot on the North York Moors near Whitby.

She quit The Street in autumn 2005 when her character Candice left to become a stylist for Status Quo. Nikki will begin filming in Yorkshire at the end of this month.

Corrie started my career
31-July-2008
Former Coronation Street star Nikki Sanderson has said she's hugely grateful to the soap for launching her career. The actress, who has now been cast in Heartbeat, found fame playing Weatherfield's Candice Stowe.

She said: "Coronation Street was a massive, massive thing for me, because it started my career and I'm really grateful for that. I will always hold Candice really close to my heart because she was my first major role and I loved her. I feel so grateful that I got to grow up doing Corrie, because it's such a wonderful show. I had a lot of support there and it did pave the way for my life. I wouldn't swap anything, not for one second!"

And it seems Nikki, 24, is not ruling out the possibility of returning one day, saying: "Right now, I'm happy, so I wouldn't go back. I left on a really good note and they were brilliant with my exit storyline, so you never know in future."

Nikki is also very ambitious, saying it would be great to 'do' a Michelle Ryan and bag a show in Los Angeles, but she understands the need to work hard. "I'm an ambitious person, but I'm also a dedicated person and I don't expect things to just come to me," she said. "I'm someone that works really hard. I will knock on a thousand doors in the hope that that one does open."
