Comic Sean Hughes is joining Corrie as the new man in the life of unlucky in love Eileen.
Soap bosses have confirmed that the former Never Mind The Buzzcocks captain, 41, will debut as mystery man Pat in early June.
A Corrie spokesman told us: “Sean will be playing Eileen’s new love interest.”
The Street Cars lonely heart, played by Sue Cleaver, will fall head over heels for Pat but, unfortunately for her, he is not all he seems and she could be heading for disappointment.
A Corrie insider added: “Pat asks Eileen out on a date and they have a brilliant time. She’s hoping that something serious will develop between them.”
Sean is also currently starring as Mod in the current series of ITV1 drama The Last Detective with Peter Davison.

I so agree with that. She has been a shoulder to lean on for friends, took care of a child as any woman would who thought they were the grandma, and even though she fights with Gail, we all know she likes her. I like Eileen and I think she deserves to get a little "sumpm sumpm" and have it last a little long before her life goes into crisis mode again. If she keeps getting loser men in her life, she'll swear them off for good and become bitter. Hey men, do you want another bitter angry woman walking the streets?maycm wrote:Poor Eileen. She deserves some luck.
Here's the first episode of Sean Hughes' tv show from the early 90s (could even be late 80s). I wasn't sure what to expect from it after all these years, but there's some pretty funny ideas and I might upload the whole series over time...
