LOVE-RAT Max is left reeling by a double whammy from Tanya. She reveals that she’s pregnant – and accuses him of cheating on her!
Tanya attacks innocent Carly, thinking that she’s the woman Max is seeing. All this leaves Max with a big headache.
He has to convince Tanya she is wrong about Carly – and keep the pregnancy a secret from Stacey, as he’s promised he’ll commit to her.
“Tanya’s heart sinks when she realises her husband has another mistress,” says Jo Joyner, who plays her.
“She is so angry she smashes the kitchen up! After everything she has put into rescuing their marriage, she can’t believe that Max is betraying her all over again.”
The drama unfolds after Stacey pressures Max to see her on his birthday instead of being with his wife and kids.
Back at home, Tanya looks through Max’s jacket and finds a receipt – for lingerie!
“She always has suspicions about Max, because of his past,” adds Jo.
“You’d think she would know the signs by now! The jacket is just sitting there, and she can’t resist a peek. Who could?”
Sickened by her discovery, Tanya does some more detective work.
“She notices a blonde hair attached to the jacket,“ reveals Jo.
“She compares it to her own hair and her worst fears are confirmed.”
Next, outraged Tanya listens to Max’s voicemail and hears Carly’s voice.
“Tanya just can’t contain her anger any longer and takes her frustrations out on the kitchen,“ says Jo.
“When Max turns up, with Carly just behind him, Tanya puts two and two together, gets five and flies at Carly.”
Carly is stunned and bewildered by the onslaught – and the resulting catfight. Max is even more alarmed and asks Tanya why she is behaving like this.
That’s when Tanya blurts out the news that she is pregnant. A shocked Max and Carly try and convince Tanya that there’s nothing going on between them.
Carly says her voice and number are only on Max’s phone because he was selling her insurance.
Max persuades Tanya that he isn’t seeing Carly, but can he stop Stacey from finding out his wife is expecting?
Elsewhere in the Square Mum-to-be Dawn goes sprawling down her front steps during a scuffle with love rival May!
After Dawn is rushed off to hospital by concerned medics, a fuming Rob lashes out at May, leaving his estranged wife with a bruise above her eye.
“May’s life is horribly out of control,” says Amanda Drew, who plays her.
“She is so desperate to get the baby, she is starting to lose her sense of reality.”
At the start of the week, May tears up the divorce papers and goes to Rob and Dawn’s flat.
“She gets into a scuffle with Dawn, and Dawn falls down the steps, clutching her stomach. Will she die? Could she lose the baby?” says Amanda.
“May is terrified the baby might be hurt.“ After Dawn’s fall, May lies to Rob that she has signed the divorce papers and convinces him to come over.
“She says she’s given up on the baby,” adds Amanda. “But he sees the nursery is still there, like a shrine to the child May wants so badly.
“She grabs him and pleads with him to come back, but he hits her across the face.”
