EastEnders' resident hardman Phil Mitchell looks set to make an honest woman of his latest flame, legal eagle Stella Crawford.

Stella, played by Sophie Thompson, has planted the seed of matrimonial bliss in the head of Phil's son Ben and is delighted when her evil scheme bears fruit.

The tough businessman, played by Steve McFadden, pops the question next month.

A source told The Sun: "Stella is desperate to get Phil down the aisle and resorts to sneaky tactics by using Ben. It's pretty sinister stuff - she's lining herself up to be a wicked stepmother for the poor boy."

The lawyer blackmails Phil into proposing by telling him Ben needs a mum.

But, as viewers have seen, Stella is anything but a model mother.

She left Ben to wander alone in the London Dungeon, watching as he became increasingly frightened, and has even burned the back of his hand with a hot spoon.

Stella may be winning at the moment - but woe betide Stella when Phil finds out what she's been up to...

EASTENDERS psycho Stella Crawford will DIE falling off a roof on her wedding day to Phil Mitchell.

Evil Stella (Sophie Thompson) makes the shock exit after weeks of emotionally abusing Phil’s young son Ben.

And Phil (Steve McFadden) will be fingered for the crime as there is a riddle over whether Stella jumped or was pushed. Show chiefs were keeping tight-lipped as to whether Phil and Stella even get married first.

So far fans of the BBC1 soap have been shocked as the wicked witch of the East End carried out sick stunts including pouring water in Ben’s bed to make him think he wet it.

And Stella also stood back and watched as Ben (Charlie Jones) was beaten up by school bullies.

Sophie, 40, admitted recently: “The mind boggles as to how Phil will react when he finds out.”

EastEnders bosses have worked with the NSPCC charity while filming the traumatic abuse plotline.

Last night a show spokesman said: “We never discuss storylines.”

Nah Aja, I'm with you. While I have enjoyed her acting she's a nasty piece of work!

I liked her as an evil character, I just wish she was evil with adults, not with a child(even though Ben annoys me....lol). I liked her in Four Weddings and a Funeral. I guess she wants to move on to better things, unless EE is making her go.

THESE pictures show the last moments of EastEnder Stella Crawford- before she falls to her death on her wedding day.

And viewers will be left wondering- did she fall or was she pushed by fiancé Phil Mitchell.

Phil (Steve McFadden) is livid after discovering scheming Stella (Sophie Thompson) has been bullying his son Ben. He confronts her and she flees the Square.

But furious Phil sets off on a high-speed chase in his Jag. He soon catches up with her and tries to run her over. She escapes and Phil chases her on foot- to the top of a three-storey building.

He pushes her to the edge and she plunges on to a car bonnet.

An insider said: "Phil is consumed with rage and is capable of anything."

The scenes will be shown next month.
