Katie Hopkins - Tesco / workfare

Tesco's Biggest Fan
20th February 2012[/align]
Over the past few days Tesco's facebook page has been inundated with people making comments about how they find Tesco's involvement in the government's 'workfare' scheme to be somewhere between disturbing and utterly sickening. Tesco didn't like such things being mentioned, preferring to talk about recipes for fucking pancakes, so I was blocked for asking a few politely sarcastic questions, along with a lot of other people.

Anyway, tonight on BBC Radio 5 Live there was a debate about the subject featuring Katie Hopkins of 'The Apprentice' infamy. At one particularly low point point she deliberately taunts the Bishop who is part of the discussion in a way that screamed 'I'm just going to say anything I can to annoy you because I'm an utter cunt'. It's great radio!

White a vile, hate-filled cow. "50% of people on benefit are lazy?" No bias there...

I thought the Bishop was dead on: it's a welfare scheme to benefit hugely profitable corporations that actually hurts the unemployment rate by giving them free labour. If the companies are actually paid by the gov't to take the free labour, that's even worse.

One point that I didn't hear made was that while working washing shelves (or whatever menial task you are given) to earn your benefit, when exactly are you supposed to be applying for jobs or be available for interviews if you're fortunate enough to be contacted by potential employers?

Yeah, she really is foul. She's like a cartoon evil stepmother made real. It's obvious that she wants to be like Thatcher, but I don't remember even Thatcher insulting or implying that a Bishop was some kind of low-grade perv.

There are so many aspects of the scheme which are wholly wrong. As far as I can see it, it should only be available for non-profit organisations. In any other situations it is just corrupt.

Maplin Electronics (high street component suppliers) have announced today that they are pulling out of the scheme. So that's good.

Heard this on Five Live and no clear distinction was made between 'mandatory work activity' and 'work experience', in fact I don't remember two schemes being mentioned.
Had no idea who the rottweiler on amphetamines, Katie-H , was.Looked her up and found out that she was a failed Officer Cadet , tained at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, so maybe that soured her and inspired her to become an actively aspiring hate figure.
Hope now that the Greeks who have been made to eat dirt will not become a threatening banner to wave for the much sought dismantling of the minimum wage and more.

i didn't listen to the audio, because i can't stand that woman from the apprentice. she's been on question time before, i think she was booed on there!

a mate of mine works for a place connected in some way to the job centre, its like if you're on the dole for x amount of time, you get sent to his place. anyway, they send people on these work for free schemes. he was saying some guy was sent to tesco's or sainsburys or somewhere, for 4 weeks i think. he turned up on time, worked hard, worked extra hours, because he really wanted a job out of it. he didn't get anything. tesco or whoever it was got rid of him after his time, got someone else in for free. the guy is still unemployed.

so its totally like major said 'it's a welfare scheme to benefit hugely profitable corporations that actually hurts the unemployment rate by giving them free labour.'

i mean, if you're a big employer, why pay someone a wage, when you can get someone to come in every 4 weeks for free?! the kind of work people are being given, unless they've got absolutely no experience, are pointless. how much greater is your cv going to be with a 4 week work placement stacking shelves? the places that would be offering jobs stacking shelves don't need to, because they've got an ever growing pool of unemployed people sent to work for free by the job centre!

Heard some govt official today say that the 'mandatory work activity' was for the long-term unemployed- more stick less carrot?
Not unexpected that Employment Minister Chris Grayling claiming "a small minority, a front for the Socialist Workers Party", were the cause of all this furore against these schemes , trying to stigmatise the 'socialists' to the US of A level; especially with Occupy around.
The Right To Work Campaign seem to be using the internet to good effect.
Radio 4 PM tonight slipping in " £1 in every 4 " going on welfare and benefits as to the 'Whys' this government says it is necessary, perhaps this 25% should be discussed in the Public forum - and examined for veracity - to find out Who stands Where ?

I see that Katie Hopkins will be on Sunday Morning Live tomorrow - talking about how 'Maternity leave shouldn't be given'.

There's no depth she won't stoop to.

She's an insufferable cunt. Still, that seems to be the angle she's relying on to get tv coverage - the sad cow.

I've never heard of this woman, and I hate to admit this, but that Katie reminds me of one of my friends. However, I do pull my friend up on her closed-mindedness.
