Alfie and Michael Moon

Post by SpursFan1902 »

Ok, so with no car and no kitchen (car is in the shop...and well you could say the kitchen is too!), I have time to catch up on EE and Corrie.

I have a question - How is it again that Michael is Alfie's cousin, but Jack Brannings best friend from childhood? The Moons did not grow up on the square, but didn't the Brannings sort of? You know, Bianca and Carol and such... The Moon's first appearance was Alfie and his bro and Nana...no mention of a Michael, but he did have those two other cousins, whose names escape me. I just don't see where they would have connected....

If he didn't look Greek (or something close) they might have got away with making him out to be a cockerney.

If I recall correctly, the "Brannings" first arrived on the Square when Carol was married to Alan (Billy's father). Although at that time, the family was called the "Jacksons". This is also the time when Bianca, Sonia & Robbie were introduced. Carol had had a teenage affair with David Wicks, Pat's son, that produced Bianca. This is how Bianca is related to Pat.

Next came Jim Branning, who married Dot. ("Dorothy Branning, Mrs." LOL)

Then Bradley Branning came to work in London and lived with Dot and his grandfather, Jim.

The next Branning appearance came when Max, Tanya, Lauren & Abby moved into the Square & we learned that Bradley was Max's son by his first marriage.

Jack was the last Branning to arrive on the Square.

So, the Brannings, just like the Moons, were not originally from Albert Square.

I'm just typing this from memory, so please let me know if there's any inconsistencies!

Awesome memory, Kez! Well done. So does that mean that Jack Branning and Michael Moon became friends in parts unknown and just happened to both end up in Albert Square, separately? Hhmmm....EE used to be better at building back stories, relationships, and character development.

Good catch, Pirty!

A cockerney is what one of Harry Enfield's characters used to call the "working-class peasants"... 'Oh, do you speak Cockerney, how marvellous!'

That sums it up perfectly, as far as my memory goes.

And yes, the back story is totally missing, isn't it? Until this "Michael Moon" appeared, I never heard a Branning mention his name. I would imagine when the writers were working on the "Alfie/Kat return-to-the-Square-storyline", Jack may have asked Charlie and/or Mo Slater how his "old mate" Michael was doing? Hmmmmm :?

Yeah, I'm glad you all feel the same way when Michael arrived. I thought that maybe I missed an episode somewhere somehow explaining or showing the prior relationship with Michael and Jack Branning. Seems weird Michael arrives via Jack and not his cousin Alfie.

I kind of wondered the same thing about the Michael - Jack connection.

And spurs, I agree --- Michael is kinda creepy....

I am glad I am not the only one, eefan. He is supposed to be so dreamy and I find him a nightmare!

Alfie and Jack actually spoke about Michael before his return to the Square. Jack knew Michael from his school days.
Personally I can't stand the git and he's not even close to attractive.

They talked briefly, but did they both live in Albert Square? Somewhere else? How coincidental that they would both end up on the Square...lots of holes..

It was supposed to be when Jack was much older and in secondary school. They didn't grow up on the Square so wherever it was that Jack and Max and them were all kids together. It is a lot of holes I agree and I think that is why they have been so vague.
