A wounded fox shot a hunter in the leg after managing to pull the trigger on his gun as the man tried to finish the animal off with the butt of his rifle.
The unnamed hunter, who had approached the fox after wounding it in the Grodno region of Belarus, remains in hospital with a leg injury while the animal made its escape.
When he attempted to strike the creature with he butt of his gun, the fox fought back and in the ensuing struggle somehow managed to pull the trigger with its paw, setting off the gun.

A prosecutor said: 'The animal fiercely resisted and in the struggle accidentally pulled the trigger with its paw.'
Fox hunting is popular in the farming region of northwestern Belarus, close to the border with Poland.
The country itself is a popular destination for hunters wanting to shoot several animals, including elk, wild boar and even wolves.
