Across Britain, people have been protesting against the government's education spending cuts. There was just some government minister on sky news saying that 'no laws have ever been changed because of street violence'. The pathetic tory cunt must have been holiday at the time of the Poll tax riots. He then went on to say that peaceful protests work because they show the decency of the people involved. Well that didn't work with the anti-Iraq war demonstrations, did it? Fuck the lot of them.
There was just a clip of protesters trying to take a crowd barrier away from in front of some cops. The cops ended up battering the hands of the people with their batons - and still lost the barrier. I'm sure my neighbours must think I'm watching football with all the cheering and shouting! haha
i guess the tory has never heard of the civil rights movement or the suffragettes ... or more recently the riots against water privatisation in bolivia
Well, it's a free country... There was one clip of a copper pulling the covering off some guy's face, and I hope that's used as evidence of police assault.
Forward Intelligence Teams from the Metropolitan Police could also be seen taking photographs of students and a number of arrests were made. these teams are notorious for taking photographs of protesters once they have been kettled, and creating files on them as "domestic extremists" even though they have committed no offence.
if they can't get your face, they can't identify you and create a file on you
If these are students committing violent acts, they are going to be in for a shock when they graduate College and go out into the real world. This type of behavior will not get them anywhere in life in general, except perhaps the slammer. A thumbs up to the coppers who manage to catch any of these little wretches vandalizing or breaking shit. Unfortunately, they'll probably only get a slap on the wrist even if they do get caught.

Thanks, Luke. Like I said, I don't know enough about the situation to take sides. I am all for bucking the system when it is not working, but sometimes the method you chose can work against you...and I am just speaking generally, not specific to this situation. Scary that you could get a file for committing no offense though...Joe McCarthy anyone?
