The former British Parliamentarian and fervent humanitarian campaigner, George Galloway, arrived Tuesday in Algiers on a visit of friendship aimed at examining how best to break the inhuman siege imposed on the Palestinian enclave of Gaza by Israel since 2007 by mobilizing to this effect the International community around this high-profile humanitarian issue.
Mr Galloway was warmly greeted on his arrival at Algiers International Airport by members of the Algerian popular committee of support for the Palestinian people, as well as by the General Manager of the newspaper Echorouk, Ali Fodhil, and by representatives of several political parties which took part in the recent aid flotilla destined to the oppressed Gaza population and manifold humanitarian associations.
In a statement to Echorouk, George Galloway expressed satisfaction at Algeria's ongoing efforts aimed at bringing relief aid to the blockaded Gaza population, a move dictated by its steadfast principles, he said. Mr Galloway also indicated that his presence in Algeria was meant as a moral boost on his part for the current preparations for the sending of the "Freedom 2" aid flotilla to Gaza at the initiative of the Algerian popular committee of support for the Palestinian people with the active contribution of the newspaper Echorouk which is totally committed to the success of this relief operation despite the difficulties entailed by this lofty humanitarian mission.
