It is amazing Kezza. I agree with you 100% I've seen few history in the making moments in my life and I am proud to be experiencing this one.
The part of me that has to get up at 5:30 is wanting sleep but the part of me that wants to savor this moment is staying up. |

well that's good news - America might have a chance to be seen as something worthy around the world again.
Well done to that Obama chap. |

Celebrating last night with a drink. Didn't get to bed until around 2am. Fireworks went off in the streets here. What has been so amazing about this all is the inspiration and excitement this has infused here in the people of America.
People who never bothered to vote before got out there for the first time to vote. Young people who were expected not to vote because of past records came out and voted. It's an amazing time to live in America.
The cynics will be out. I've already read articles where they tear him down. But I know it's all sour grapes. The people have spoken and history has been made. |

whats interesting in this country, is its not just the cynics - people in the media here who have wholly supported bush and the last 8 years are now chatting like they were never a part of cheering him on. |

Thought Obama's speech was well done and inspiring.
I read a quote earlier that went something like "Rosa Parks sat so Martin Luther King could walk. Martin Luther King walked so Obama could run. And Obama is running so his children can fly".
It was nice to see so many Americans get out and vote --- the most since women won the right to vote so many years ago. It makes the Canadian turnout look pathetic. Congrats to all who made their voice heard. |

| I can only join in the chorus this morning. Our country is back on the right track now. I just can't wait for him to get started...I was happy to do my part, a little campaigning, alot of talking to others and one vote. That is where is all starts. Our founding fathers are proud. |

Wish I could be there to celebrate with you. Thank you for your campaigning efforts. Great job. Your work and the work of others on this site did help us win. And this win is for America.
I know the nay-sayers will be out and they will continue for the four years, regardless of how things start to improve. It's the way of sore-losers. Which exist in both parties. Even when they benefit they will somehow show it has nothing to do with Barack or his policies. But I don't care, because we did it! |

I wish you were here too, Sky!! What a day to party!! Two of the swing states hanging out....cool....
It is the way of some to never accept that they have lost and never see the good in the opposing, winning side, but really, aren't they double losers? THey never get all of the benefits...oh, yeah, they may the benefits that the country gets as a whole...better economy and such, but they will never get that soul satifying benefit of knowing that they were part of something great...even though they were. Without opposition, we have nothing to overcome, so without McCain, there would be no celebrations. To that I say...thanks, Sen McCain...thanks for being the opposition we needed to overcome!
I must say, that as I watch all of the wrap ups, retrospectives and news stories, I know deep down that I did the right thing and will probably spend most of the day tearing up at the mention of Obama's name. It is a great day!!! |

Sounds great spurs, I remember the party atmosphere after Blair was elected here in 97... it was something similar to what's happened with Obama with one major difference; Obama doesn't appear to be anywhere near as slimy as Blair. I hope that continues over the years.
Here's Bush's speech from a few minutes ago - tata Georgie boy you bloody mumbling muppet.
