I'm not an EE watcher so have no frame of reference for Michelle Ryan.

I actually quite enjoyed this, looks relatively 'dark' compared to the original, with shades of "the Fugitive" and "Terminator" in the way it looks and the plot.

I'm with maycm --- I quite enjoyed it. It is much darker than the show from the '70s but I don't think it's meant to be an exact copy. I thought Michelle did an ok job, keeping in mind that it was the first episode. Looks like she may not be the only "Bionic Woman" out there :) It was a little hard to get used to her voice, but I think that's only because I'm not used to hearing her speak with an American accent.

It also made me realize that I watch too much EE when my husband said.... "Isn't that the girl from Eastenders who dated that doctor?"

Michelle Ryan’s bruising new performance
Michelle Ryan, who had to suppress her customary Received Pronunciation to appear in EastEnders, has had to acquire new skills for her latest film, A Girl Walks into a Bar.

“I play a stripper and had to go to a pole-dancing class in LA to prepare,” the 25-year-old actress tells me at the Jameson Empire Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. “It was great fun and I have so much respect for the dancers. It is hard work.”

She ended up with “bruises everywhere,” but felt that the sacrifice was worthwhile. As for life off screen, she says that there is no man in her life at the moment, but admits, mystifyingly, to “a huge crush” on Larry David of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Even if he wasn't so old, he's ugly! I agree with Pirty - she must be insane!

I always thought she did ok in Bionic Woman -- but that writers strike ruined things for her I guess.

I'm curious as to what the movie was that she had to turn down --- trying to think back on the films that have been released since then and trying to picture her in them.

ZOMBIEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!

It just occurred to me that she's been in quite a few science-fiction stories now. Bionic Woman, Dr Who, Jekyll and now this.
