Thanks Luke...upon hearing Carl from Plaistow's voice, my 'Mother of all Talkshows' grief and loss, which I hold close on weekend evenings, became soft around the edges; Then, the local coyotes howled and laughed and screamed - as they so often do, out here in the wilderness...I felt somehow human, and re-involved with the world once more...and then ...I slept like a baby...
Cheers Luke, I listened last night and enjoyed it too. Ken's certainly become more relaxed than I remember - and David Mellor was actually quite good too.

Listening to Ken right now..10 minutes to 11 p.m. on a quiet cold night, out here in the high eastern desert of California. We tend to think now and then, that our nearby 9,000 to 14,900 foot mountains must be very similar looking to the mountains and topography of Afgahnistan, which was never mentioned on the Ken Livingston radio show...of course, the fact that here, in my town, only 38 relatively friendly folks live in a 300 square mile area here; it helps make it eerily different from such tragic places like Afgahnistan...and the peace we have at all times...well, that says it all!
No war, no starvation, no foreign troops, and no foreign armed drones flying over...right...we have only those high flying American fighter jets practicing in the air, and targeting on our homes, and on our cars, as we drive around freely...yes they are practicing for the real deal, on us. . . practicing for the days ahead when they will be actually strafing and bombing the people of Afghanistan...
And so it's quite refreshing, and serves as a good reminder of what my country is really doing with all that money collected as taxes...no money for education, social safety-nets, jobs, health-care. . . no none of that...no new solar panels being built...no new industries popping up...only new weapons and maneuvers being worked out on the nearby weapons base.
And so, here I sit, listening to British radio presenters discuss the inner workings of the election, and explaining the elections of the past...all of it discussed with much personal judgment and a seemingly honest sort of civil histrionics...all really about power...and some kind of grown up civility about the future of the 'parties'....then came the 'spending on second homes', flipping, stand downs, and using scandals for purposes of power.
And then, w/o notice, coming in overhead, drowning out the podcast, comes the slowly increasing roar of an f16's, only 70 feet over the top of my airstream trailer... and then the stealth bomber's slowly increasing rumble under the ground below me ...bringing me back to my feelings of deep sadness...and then, after the rumbling ceases, the coyotes outside begin their political chatter, and intermittent crazed loud laughter...oh dear...time to go and dream of another time, when climate change and those crazy religions with their wars, did not threaten all the women and children of entire States, 10,000 miles away..I turn off the PC...I lay down; and then the dream begins...I find myself sitting around a low table with the other happy children - talking reluctantly about what we might do when we grow up! And Laughing! Taxes - haha ha - Hung Parliaments - HA HA! Tea-baggin' gatherings of crazy people - haha HA - HO HO!!
I'll be an MP, says one boy...Mayor of London for me, says another!
"I'll want to be the fellow paid for handing out tickets to folks for taking pictures", says the fat boy in the corner of the room...more laughter and tossing of things...
Then a very large Mrs. Thatcher clapped her hands quite loudly... and 'whoosh"...
I awoke to a warm morning sun, coming through the open windows, and a neighbor calling me up on the land line, asking if I heard all the racket last night..."Hope over Fear!" is all I can say in reply.
Well, thanks again Luke, for another interesting bit of radio!
The view from my home, looking east, in the early evening:
cheers, but can I suggest you put the date in the order, year-month-date? Over time it helps to keep things in the correct order if there's a load of them in a folder.

i've not heard todays show, so he might explain more - but on the previous show ken was saying how during last weeks show he was passing a kidney stone!
i noticed when saving the file that theres a ten second or so gap in the recording, i don't know if the stream died for a bit or my computer went a bit weird but i didn't notice anything else so hopefully it'll be just that one gap
