[align=center]Man sues Guinness Book of Records over 'most lawsuits' claim

A man who keeps suing people is suing the Guinness Book of World Records for saying that he's sued the most people ever. Jonathan Lee Riches, who is currently incarcerated in the Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky, is thought to have filed over 4,000 lawsuits around the world against various people, entities, objects and concepts.

In a boldly ironic move, he has now filed a lawsuit against the Guinness Book of World Records, hoping to get an injunction against them naming him as the world's most litigious man in their 2010 edition. 'The Guinness Book of World Records have no right to publish my work, my legal masterpieces,' he says in the legal filing, according to The Spokesman-Review. He is also unhappy about the nicknames they apparently plan to ascribe to him, including 'Sue-per-man', 'the duke of lawsuits' and 'Johnny Sue-nami'.

Previous targets of his legal ire have included George W. Bush, Che Guevara, Perez Hilton, the Eiffel Tower, Britney Spears, Adolf Hitler's Nazi party, Google, the Roman Empire, The Queen, the Magna Carta, the Wu-Tang Clan, Plato, Emilio Estevez and Nordic Gods.

Riches has been banned from filing suits in many jurisdictions. His latest legal foray was filed in the court of Judge Justin Quackenbush, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington. Judge Quackenbush dismissed Riches' previous suit, against the Peanut Corp. of America, in February, warning him that he may be banned from filing in that court too. Riches is currently serving time for wire fraud, but could be released by 2012.

Contortionist Iona Luvsandorj has smashed an endurance world record by holding her entire bodyweight on her mouth in an arduous backbend.

Iona, who is 28 and lives in West Hampstead, London, held a pose called the "Marinelli bend" for 33 seconds, beating the existing world record by 11 seconds. The Marinelli is an inverted backbend where the whole body is supported by the mouth by gripping onto a short post that is held between the gums.

Iona was born and raised in Mongolia and has over 19 years of experience as a contortionist and has travelled the world performing in over 16 different countries at gala evenings, theatres, cabaret shows and on television. She first dreamed of becoming a contortionist when she was five years old when a television performance inspired her. Iona is implausibly bendy and is also capable of twisted headstands, scales and multiple body folds.

Of her Guinness World Record attempt, Iona said: "It's not painful - if it was I wouldn't be here now. But there are very few people that can do what I am about to do, so don't try this at home." After witnessing Iona break the record, presenter Steve Jones said: "Guys, you are not going to believe this - it is incredible!" The feat will be broadcast on the Sky 1 show 'Guinness World Records Smashed!' on May 31 at 8pm.

World's biggest air guitar ensemble record is broken
The record for the world’s biggest air guitar ensemble has been set with 810 people “playing” a 2 minutes, 34 second epic.

The cast and crew of the Broadway musical “Rock of Ages” and hundreds of inspired New Yorkers easily surpassed the previous record of 440 air guitarists. A representative from Guinness World Records counted 810 air guitarists after Wednesday’s matinee performance at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre.

William Ocean, the 2007 National Air Guitar champion, taught the audience how to play the air guitar. The group played along to Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’”.

Giant cucumber shatters world record[/align]
A pensioner has broken Britain's Guinness World Record after somehow managing to produce a giant cucumber that's still growing. Former bus driver Yitzhak Yizdanpana, has grown a goliath 1.2 metre cucumber that is still growing at 2 cm a week.

Yitzhak said that he did not use any fertiliser or add anything to the soil and that when the cucumber stops growing he will put it up for a Guinness World Record. His neighbour's son five-year-old Yanir loves to measure his height next to the green giant. The previous world record for the Longest Cucumber was a 91cm cucumber which was grown by Alf Cobb of Nottinghamshire.

Speed-freak rides a 860m rollercoaster on rollerskates

The twists and turns of being flung around a rollercoaster in the usual way is enough excitement for most of us. But for some people - one specific, crazy person in particular - that thrill's just not enough. German speed-demon Dirk Auer decided to take things up a level, by taking on the Mammoth rollercoaster at a Stuttgart theme park on specially designed roller-skates.

Reaching speeds of up to 90km/h as he sped around the 860 metre track last week, Auer found himself subjected to forces up to 3G as he completed the ride in just over a minute. The stunt was, he said afterwards, 'a lot of fun'.

The skates used - with wheels to grip either side of each track - were created specifically for the stunt. Each had 16 wheels, weighed 20kg, and took 110 hours to build. If he'd fallen from the wooden rollercoaster, at the Tripsdrill theme park, it's likely that Auer would have ended up rather dead.

'This was a very dangerous stunt because there were so many factors to consider,' he understated. The roller caster is wooden and so unlike rides made from iron and steel there was always a chance of the odd nail or screw that would not be entirely flat. If the skates were to catch a stray nail then I could have fallen and I would almost certainly have died.'

This isn't the first time that Auer's taken on such a crazy stunt - in fact, he's made a career out of it. He holds numerous world records for his in-line skating, including the record for the fastest speed being pulled behind a car - reaching 191mph while being dragged behind a Porsche. And Top Gear viewers might remember him for his jet-powered skating antics, racing an Aston Martin V8 Vantage back in 2007

Daredevil kayaker plunges down the 180-foot-tall Palouse Falls in Southeastern Washington, setting unofficial world record

It took Tyler Bradt four trips to Palouse Falls before he did it. He first laid eyes on the Southeastern Washington waterfall in March while on a trip from his home state of Montana. "We just heard about it by word of mouth," Bradt said. "People just said, 'You should check out this waterfall in Eastern Washington.' " His first impression? "It looks pretty runnable." So, last Tuesday, he went over Palouse Falls, all 180-plus feet of it. In a kayak.

Though Bradt hasn't released any photos of his feat, he says the vertical decent down the face of the falls was filmed by his production company, Revolutionary Innovations, for the upcoming film Dream Result. The feat also set an unofficial world record. The 22-year-old set a previous record in 2007 when he kayaked off 107-foot Alexandra Falls along the Hay River in Canada's Northwest Territories. That record was "marginally broken," Bradt said, by a Brazilian who ran a 127-foot waterfall last month. However, Bradt debated the Brazilian's record-breaking plummet because he landed on his head instead of in a clean, kayak-nose-first position.

Bradt said his media agent is working on a deal to first release the photos to a national magazine. He expects that will come in the next couple of weeks. Bradt, who sounds more like a surfer from Los Angeles than a kayaker from Western Montana, emphasized that he doesn't rush waterfalls for world records. He does it to show what humans are capable of accomplishing. "This is something we've been working up to for a while," he said. "We were really making calculated decisions. ... It's really a wild thing, trying to explain it to non-kayakers."

After plunging underwater about 20 feet and being submerged for about seven seconds, Bradt surfaced from Palouse Fall's deep pool with little more than a sprained wrist and windless lungs. "I actually expected more of an impact," he said. "... Considering the waterfall, the injuries were pretty minor."

Back in Montana, local kayaker and business owner Land Heflin, who described Bradt as a "young, local legend," was flabbergasted. "I can't believe he ran that," said Heflin, co-owner of Tarkio Kayak Adventures in Missoula. "That's impressive if he did that. It's hard to believe he did that. ... If he really ran a 186-footer, and did not hurt himself, that's incredible." "Incredible" seems to be a fitting description for Bradt. When he's not rushing massive waterfalls, he's going to equally prodigious extremes to prove just how far initiative and determination can take people.

A bid to set a new world record for the number of women being photographed wearing bikinis in one place failed, after only 42 of the required 1,924 turned up.

A poor weather forecast in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, was blamed for the disappointing turnout. Organisers had hoped to enter the record books by getting more than 1,923 women wearing swimwear on the sands of the Essex seaside town, beating the number reached in Russia last year. One said that only 42 had turned out to raise money for Southend Hospital's breast cancer appeal, the oldest of whom was in her 80s.

Debbie Reynolds, 23, said she thought they would at least break the UK record of 320. "It was sunny and everything, so we thought we'd get a good turnout, but it was very sad when we realised that 42 was the grand total. It's pretty rubbish I must admit. We really need to try harder. It made be feel pretty embarrassed to be British when we can't even mount a decent challenge." Tracy Jones added: "I don't think the terrible weather yesterday and forecast today helped. It was a beautiful day but I think a lot of people made up their minds yesterday."
