it's depressing alright. I imagine there are lot's greedy bastards in the business community anywhere, scrabbling about for anything they can exploit and are accepted. It's not that they can't exist in a ghetto, it just seems so much worse.

Very depressing indeed. Though not unpredictable.

But the hitherto untold story of the great Gazan tunnel scam is notable for being self-inflicted...

While the victims and perpetrators of this particular scheme were Palestinian, the desperation caused by the illegal blockade (the ultimate cause) was not self-inflicted. (Unless voting for the wrong guy means you deserve what you get.)
