A rich Norwegian has been ordered to pay USD 109,000 fine after driving his car 400 metres while drunk. Police stopped the 49-year-old man in October near the airport for southern Norway's Kristiansand. Tests showed he had a blood alcohol content of .188 percent. Norway's maximum is .02 per cent. The man pleaded guilty in court today. Norwegian courts set drunken driving fines based on income and personal wealth. today's ruling says the man's income is $117,000 and personal wealth is $36.6 million. It also revoked his license for two years and three months.

A DRUNK rammed a Tesco's with his Rolls-Royce yesterday - after the store refused to sell him more booze. A mum-to-be was among six women taken to hospital after the silver-haired driver PLOUGHED through the front window, CAREERED into the store and DEMOLISHED two checkouts.
Last night the bearded 50-year-old, believed to own a chauffeur firm, was sobering up at a nick after being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Staff at the store in Andover, Hants, told how he came in legless wanting to buy spirits. Checkout girls refused to serve him.
A manager followed him to his car and begged him not to drive. The man aimed his luxury motor at the window - only to be blocked by a low wall. He backed up as staff and shoppers fled in terror - smashing through in a shower of glass. Those hurt suffered cuts. The driver was arrested sitting in the wreckage.
Last night his Roller was hauled out. A Tesco worker said: "It's a miracle nobody's dead." A shopper said: "He said he was going to drive through the shop if he wasn't served and that's exactly what he did."

Grading the fine to the person's income is a great idea!
The idiot was well over the limit maybe 7 units in his system so probably had about 5 beers or 10 shorts before he drove(allowing for time between drinking and the test.)
I do think the Norwegian limit is too low though. It's 1/4 of the UK and US limit so maybe a half pint of beer or less than a small glass of wine.
