The funerals are today and it's shut down the whole city. Not only are these the first police officers to be killed in Pittsburgh in nearly two decades but this is the first time in the history of Pittsburgh that multiple officers were killed.
Richard Poplawski's mother has been arrested in unrelated charges. There has also been an investigation for the dispatcher who sent the officers out there.
Poplawski is in jail and not allowed among the general population now.
One of my co-workers fiance works for the Pittsburgh PD. He went to police academy with him and was quite close. It's been sad all around.
