Obama aide in 'anti-Arab' row

Post by t. »

Benjamin Emanuel (father of Rahm Emanuel) was reported as telling an Israeli newspaper about his son last week: "Obviously, he will influence the president to be pro-Israel. Why wouldn't he?

"What is he, an Arab? He's not going to clean the floors of the White House."

https://english.aljazeera.net/news/ameri ... 93981.html

Don't know if you guys are keeping track of the Emanuel story, but he was offered the position of Chief of Staff by Obama recently.
His father was a member of the Irgun, a Jewish terrorist organization.

What would the world say if Obama had hired the son of a Hamas member? Or the son of a Hezbollah member? How can they be so blatantly pro-Israeli, and no one gives a damn?

Good luck finding that full quote on any corporate news site. I found the first half in most, and a few had both the first half and the last bit. But only alJazeera had the full quote with "What is he, an Arab?"

I can't wait to hear what his 2nd cousin has to say about all this, or his newsagent or hairdresser for that matter.

Thanks for the tip JWDread. The Obama campaign does really resemble Blair's... I remember back in the day when Bush was running against Gore how strongly I supported Bush. Even my parents sat at the TV all day hoping he would win
And look what happened there, lol

It also mentions Nader's point about how Rahm Emanuel is the worst of the Clinton years. Any superficial glance at his policies from the Clinton days will show just how little change is about to happen. Some people, ie. Seshme, refuse to smell the coffee
