Quote: | Police find 12th cannabis factory
POLICE have uncovered yet another Vietnamese cannabis factory in Plymouth – bringing the total number of locations linked to the crime gang to 12.
Officers were called to the terraced house in Cheltenham Place, Greenbank after a plumber, acting on instructions from the landlord, entered the premises at around 11am earlier today.
Although the house was deserted he was shocked to find several rooms packed with cannabis plants.
He immediately called police who carried out an extensive search of the property.
Two rooms downstairs had around 60 to 80 three-foot high plants apiece while upstairs one room had around 140 small cannabis plants. Two more rooms had approximately 100 plants which had been fully cropped – stripped of the leaves and buds – with no sign of them in the premises. A small propagator on the landing also held another 20 small plants.
The kitchen bore the usual signs of Vietnamese food, but washing-up in the sink and rotting food suggests the cannabis caretaker may have left the property several days ago.
An unkempt bedroom also showed signs of life, including books on business by Donald Trump – translated into Vietnamese – and a large quantity of prescribed and over-the-counter drugs including packs of paracetamol.
Investigators say the estimated value of the cannabis found was around £30,000 with the building being capable of producing an annual return of around £250,000.
On Monday night this week officers raided a property in the more affluent area of Mannamead, where they uncovered what was believed to be the largest Vietnamese cannabis factory found in Devon and Cornwall to date.
That property held around 1,500 plants, valued at around £100,000. |

its been funny the last few weeks, it seems every few days they're finding one of these 'cannabis factories'. some of the pictures in the paper have been quite good, they busted one place last week and the plants looked like they were just ready for harvesting ... such a shame. i did wonder if theres a skip out of the back of the police station stuffed full of plants!
i don't know how they work out their maths though '1,500 plants, valued at around £100,000' thats £66 a plant - not even an ounce! the police usually way over estimate their drugs busts. you should be getting way more than that per plant - with plants 4 to 5 feet high you'd easily be getting 3 to 4 ounces per plant and really growing from clone and flowering at that height more than that ... it would depend on the power of the lights they're grown under and other things like the strain and environment, plus how good a grower you are, but from the pics of the setups, i doubt they scrimped on lights, and with a commercial grow like that they will be growing a high yielding strain |

it's always a sad story when you know they were about to harvest! That happened to a pal of mine years back - he got 2 years in Inverness jail... |

right, quite a grow then
a guy from down the road where i lived before got caught growing, but just a little small thing for personal use. i think he said he grew for medicinal reasons, they took the plants and growing equipment away and that was it! |
