Looks like Luke, major.tom & I are in a stand-off with the Kucinich crowd.
Since I didn't hear much about Gravel on the Media, i was especially interested to see this video
<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube.com/v/nK7DRPyNAHA&re ... ram><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="https://www.youtube.com/v/nK7DRPyNAHA&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

The video has descriptipn :
America, you are free to do what they tell you.

5 major corporations control our elections, and choose the candidates for president.

This time they are eliminating Mike Gravel. First they marginalized him, then they eliminated him from the Oct. 30 and Nov. 15 debates.

Why?
-He won't be owned by them.
-He speaks truth to power.
-He wants to bring power to us, the people, and take it from the small group that controls things now.

Take back your freedom, look at what Mike Gravel has to offer.

Above all else support someone you really believe in. Don't waste your vote on someone that was chosen for you.

-Footage from CNN debates--
-Audio: My slightly remixed version of Adam Freeland's We Want Your Soul, and an excerpt from Bill Hicks.-
p.s. I have seen another video in the past with this audio .. I just can't recall which one.

Is it a coincidence that the two candidates who are "liked" the most on this forum (Gravel and Kucinich) are given the LEAST time in the debate (5 minutes & 8 minutes) versus 22 minutes for Clinton ?

I think that probably reflects the producers pandering to polls than anything more sinister. They don't consider what's being said, but what will keep viewers watching - and most viewers will listen more to people they know. It's a vicious circle.

The issue to consider is : why is it that the 2 people "we" came out closest to politically in a "blind test" are the ones least known / least popular in polls?

I think the answer is that the mass media / donations tilt the political landscape to politicians who diverge from policies which are best for the people. This is the point being made by the video.

But in their own constituencies they must be popular and they couldn't have achieved that without the media. Kucinich does get some good press if his own website is anything to go by.

Their local popularity is probably because the local media is "less" controlled by the main corporations.

You're not giving much credit to the voters.

I don't think this place can be considered a "blind test". Most people who come to this particular forum are from a small group who like George Galloway and have pretty liberal views. That's fine and all, but for an election in a country that has millions of people, I don't think there is as a large a group that shares the views of someone like that. Not a majority that would win an election, that is for sure. Just my two cents on the idea since this this topic seems to be a bit neutral open to others points of view. ;-)

I'd say the problem with that majority is that they don't care what happens, and that's because they've been taught that this is the only way to prosper.

yeah, but if you check the total results from that https://www.vajoe.com/candidate_calculator.html site ( the one that works out which candidate you agree with most ) its had over 1.5million people and couchtripper probably makes about 10 of those! these are the results;

# Gravel - 13.57%
# Giuliani - 12.07%
# Romney - 10.69%
# Kucinich - 9.76%
# Huckabee - 7.96%
# Biden - 7.35%
# Cox - 6.45%
# Clinton - 4.54%
# Dodd - 4.19%
# Obama - 4.19%
# Hunter - 3.91%
# Tommy Thompson - 3.73%
# Tancredo - 2.69%
# Fred Thompson - 2.55%
# Paul - 1.99%
# Richardson - 1.66%
# Edwards - 1.34%
# Brownback - 1.03%
# Mccain - 0.34%

gravel comes out on top! thats a lot of liberals pirty :wink2:

scary ( for me ) that giuliani and romney come out in 2nd and 3rd. interesting to note that of the top four candidates that most match peoples opinions, only the two republicans get loads of media coverage - the top two ranking democrats, gravel and kucinich, get way less ...

if you check the total results from https://www.whowouldtheworldelect.com/ they've had 69,830 votes, mostly americans. out of those 69,830 votes 35,618 go to ron paul! the other republicans hardly register ... barak comes in with 14,541 followed by kucinich with 7,173, hillary with 3,624 and gravel with 1,970 - most of the replicans except ron paul get a few hundred ...

Americans are marketable people. Give us the shiny object and we will vote for it. Kucinich is not seen as being very "presidential looking" so why bother covering him?

I really need to be a better voter and do my research NOW. I saw ONE Ron Paul sign the other day. ONE! That is the ONLY one I have seen.

I think the reason there's a lot of support for Ron Paul (at least online) is because he has brought so many people back to the voting table who would otherwise not be interested in the slightest.

But I'm sure he does represent a fairly large percentage of people, if only they knew that his policies could work well for them.

Note the mention on the video that only Ron Paul and Kucinich speak the truth.
Shows the support for Ron Paul & Kucinch cross party lines.
