bookmark and diggs etc

Post by faceless »

I've added a new widget to the site for making bookmarks and sharing the site around. It's at the bottom of every forum page and the top in other areas like the homepage and Galloway section.

It's easy to use, and if it helps get more people in then we all benefit in the long run. I realise that not everyone uses digg-it, for example, but it really is a useful site that will take you on a whole different surfing experience than just using google or yahoo.

this is already working well - I've added diggs for a few separate threads and pages and already I've had one come up as a google alert...

Does it add the threads to Digg then or something?

yep, if you click on the 'bookmark' graphic at the bottom of any thread it will digg just that thread.

For those unfamiliar with Digg, it describes itself as a social bookmarking site. Users submit articles (links) and others vote them up (digg it) or down. It's also a neat way to find interesting articles based on what other "diggers" find interesting.

So nobody say anything *too* earth-shattering, or the flood of traffic will bring Couchtripper down to its knees.

I'm not sure about a flood of traffic, but the ahmedinejad thread has had 27 diggs so far, which is pretty good - cheers to those involved for making it a good read.

If the site ever needs more power it will happen though, so no worries about the site being on its knees...

FYI, I submitted CT to Digg on 6th March .. see here

Interesting that the 2 stories with the most "diggs" were about Murdoch and 911.

yeah, thanks Mandy - I changed that link to the particular one that promotes this site.

Now if a few more people from here 'digg' some of these it will help.

nice one Luke, and it's cool to see your pic on your profile there...

I was hoping that at least a few more members would take part though - it only takes a minute to sign-up and that's it sorted.
