NZ women world's most promiscuous
October 13, 2007 - 9:17AM

New Zealand women have the most sexual partners in the world, according to a global sex survey. They have an average of 20.4 sexual partners, according to a survey by condom-maker Durex - well above the global average of 7.3.

The Durex Sexual Wellbeing Global survey, which questioned 26,000 people in 26 countries, found that Austrians topped the male list with 29.3 sexual partners, more than twice the global average of 13.2. New Zealand was the only country where women were more promiscuous than their men, who averaged 16.8 sexual partners, The Press newspaper said, reporting the survey.

The survey showed that Austrians were the youngest to lose their virginity at an average of 17.3 years, followed by Brazilians (17.4), Germans (17.6) and New Zealanders (17.8 ).

I have to think about this ... either the NZ women are picking more NON-New Zealand male partners, or they are into female-female action.

Why's that? Why couldn't one woman sleep with that many different men?

Take a closed system of 10 male, 10 female, who are initially paired. Average # of partners = 1 for both
Now every female decides to sleep with every male, then Average # of partners = 10 for both.

What I was thinking in my prior reply is that any increase in the number of men which women sleeping with must cause the male average to also rise. Even taking an extreme of 1 woman out of 10 sleeping with all 10 men, and the men sleeping with no one else, then the average number of partners is still 1 for BOTH men and women.

But you're not dealing with 10 and 10 here. It's a much larger number. That changes how you figure the stats. And women out number male as a sex in our species.

If there were more women than men, and they only slept with New Zealand men, then the AVERAGE number of partners would be less for women than for men .. not more. Think of the extreme that every women slept with every man (and of-course vice-versa)

It doesn't say they only slept with New Zealand men.

That's basically my point that one way to reconcile the figures (assuming they are true) is that New Zealand women fancy non-New Zealand men more than New Zealand men fancy non-New Zealand women.

No, my question is why it couldn't be men. Not New Zealand men. You stated there might have to be women-on-women action for this. I wanted to know why a woman couldn't have slept with that many men. I was questioning that part. I think we just got our wires crossed on the question. No worries. Should have worded it differently.

Not your fault. My point was purely a statistical thought .. could have been apples & oranges as far as I was concerned.
