The first feature-length Futurama is to be released on DVD in November, it has been revealed. Bender's Big Score is the first new episode to be made since the animated series was dropped by America’s Fox network in 2003. But demand for DVDs proved so strong that four movie-length episodes went into production for direct sale alone. Each will feature the same actors and creative team as the original.
The next three titles will be released throughout 2008, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The plot of Bender's Big Score has the Planet Express crew fighting to save Earth against nudist alien Internet scammers, who send robot Bender back in time. Guest stars include Al Gore, Sarah Silverman and rapper Coolio. Futurama is the second animated Fox series to generate a DVD-only title, following the Family Guy film Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story.

This is fantastic! I love Futurama!
My favourite quote has to be:
Leela: Professor, since when have you been interested in politics?
Prof: From the very moment I became old. |

I wonder if they will do the same as they did with Family Guy? (the movie)...
That is to say: Release it on DVD, 5 or 6 weeks later start showing it on TV as seperate edited (yet "To be continued") episodes... |

| I never watched this series at all until it ended. But it was much funnier than I thought it would be. It's strange that the movies are going straight to DVD, though. I wouldn't mind seeing it in a theatre. |

| Hopefully they'll push it further than they could on TV like the Simpsons movie did. |

I expect the same as with Family Guy...
Less censorship on the DVD, about 16 min.s worth extra that gets cut out when it's spliced into TV episodes. |

Here's the trailer for the DVD - I'm not too impressed, but it still looks like a laugh |
