Bloody hell Galloway

Post by faceless »

'If a dog's born in a cat's basket, it doesn't make it a cat' - was a comment I just heard from Galloway in regard to Tony Blair being Scottish, or English depending on how you see it. this is a very typical type of attack that the BNP use to challenge families of immigrants and was made popular by, of all people, Bernard Manning.

Arse!

I heard it too. I am absolutely disgusted and I don't know what to think about it.

My own racist father has bludgeoned me with "if a dog is born in a stable, it doesn't make it a horse" regarding the "pakis" and "niggers".

I just don't know what to do about this.

I was born in England to Scottish and Irish parents - what does that make me, considering I've lived in the Scottish culture since I was a child?

The kind of bastard who hates the bollocks it creates, that's who.

mmm.... George has repeatedly said that Westerners' children born and who live in Israel are Israeli.

To be fair, George did also say that Scotland wasn't Tony Blair's constituency. This implies he didn't spend much time in Scotland. I think that's the point George was trying to make : It isn't where you were born, but how long you spent in a place.

I would be interested to know if anyone knows how long Tony Blair was in Scotland.

George is as much a product of his environment, his time and place of being formed, as the rest of us. His idiomatic use of language will reveal this from time to time however much he has tried to educate himself out of such uses. We know his heart... nothing to see hear! ;-)

It was an idiotic thing to say and I think he needs to readdress his Scottish/British point of view in order to make it clearer to himself if no one else.

I was going to write to him about it last night, but I decided to sleep on it, since I have a history of jumping the gun in all aspects of my life!

Anyway, I've emailed him today asking for him to address the incident. Hopefully he will.

that seems to have done the trick Neko, nice one.

It didn't sound like a joke at the time though!

This forum thread & face's posting probably also contributed. I did e-mail yesterday a copy of this thread to GG.

George did mention "friends".
