How do you kill a joke?
A

I thought it would be best as a verbal (rather than written) gag, and I still think that, although I told it to my three cleverest friends yesterday, and none of them got it without having it explained to them.
Now you might just say that makes it a bad joke, but I've thought about this, and I stand by my joke. It seems to comply with the "rules" of comedy. A well-known phrase is bent into a word which is new, but which has an apparently self-explanatory etymology, and humour results.
I expect someone will just quote "and humour results" with a shaking-head smiley.
