I saw this on the news and thought it was pretty mental. Ok, so security personnel need to be ready for all sorts of 'attack' but they could easily have killed people. And it's not as if they're terrorists. I've a feeling this will encourage more militant protesters into the fray - if I'd seen this as a teenager I'd probably have signed up straight away...
A policeman sprays tear gas during the demonstration against the opening of the of G-8 summit in Rostock, Germany. Roughly 25,000 people demonstrated peacefully against the summit in nearby Heiligendamm when riots erupted.
To paraphrase the BBC commentator in Germany - No one has gotten near the building, but as you have seen, there have been the fun and games out at sea. I know that they are thinking on their feet when the camera is on and responding to the talking head's questions, but "fun and games at sea"??
I thought it was a fairly balanced report all in all. I don't think I've seen such a report on the BBC before - usually the only thing that's seen about the people are those who are involved in trouble.
