But isn't there some law (here in the US) regarding knowingly passing a deadly, contagious disease? Like if you knowingly pass on AIDS...
The guys father is now saying that guy asked his doctor about going and that he wasnt told that he couldn't travel. The doctor knew he was getting married and the itinerary and no one told him not to go. Uhmm, don't buy that one... |

Even though the father-in-law has issued a denial that the disease originated from his CDC work, it does make you wonder what's the probability of the tuberculosis being from the CDC labs.
Also, I wonder if the lawyer got "kids-glove" treatment because of his CDC connection .. i.e. nepotism / corruption .. call it what you like. |

| If someone has a cold at work or on a train or whatever, could you sue them for infecting you if it meant you lost wages as a result of being off sick? |

If you can sue fast food companies for spilling hot coffee on yourself, of course you can sue for that.
However, airlines don't let sick people fly mostly. Remember they kicked the girl with the coughing fit off the plane? Not to mention if you are ill, with fever and such, they will refuse to let you on. It's recycled air.
The fact is he knew he was infected with a potentially deadly illness and still took the risk on a plane. He should be given some accountability. |

You have better luck suing the person, than the airline (who are protected by international treaty and the ticket contract).
Issue is to prove a link that you caught it from that person ... and that's before even considering if he was negligent.
As a lawyer, the fear is he would counter sue that you gave him the disease ... and if you are in non-US citizen, against a US citizen in a US court, then you might as well surrender. |

I think you're right, Sky. I suppose that you technically can sue anyone for anything, but I think the key thing here is that he knew he had a potentially deadly disease,, rather than something as simple as a cold. Now, if he didn't know it was potentially very serious than I could see how he might not really be accountable, but in this case, he knew. And I think it unlikely that it really did come from the CDC labs..... their set up is pretty secure, lots of precautions. I guess anything is possible, but I really doubt it came from there. |
