I used to rewrite people's essays - as in editing grammar etc - but I would never have felt comfortable writing an entire essay for someone.

For me, it was one way I didn't mind bucking the system and I got paid at the same time. We all have our own comfort levels.

So would you mind if your students paid others to do their work?

It wouldn't be my favorite thing, but I won't be a hypocrite. If that's the way they want to go, then that's their decision. It's their education, not mine.

Out of curiousity, were the papers word-processed, or did the students rewrite the papers in their hand-writing ?

Just thinking that forcing students to hand-write them should ensure they at least read what they are handing in, even if someone else wrote it.

Both APA and MLA style papers require them to be typed. I have never seen a college paper handwritten here in the States since we have specific rules to follow when doing papers.

Thanks for clarifying.

I suppose one day we will have biometric sensing, or every document has a video attachment of the person typing it in, as proof of work.

Orwellian ...

They should have a Megan's Law for such cheats - with online maps and photos of those who could potentially put others lives and welfare at risk through their deviant behaviour!
