I'm the same way...well, not the nap, but I can drink 20 gallons of soda or coffee and it has no affect on me at all.
I wonder why that is
Not a clue...I've tried figuring it out. My father drinks one cup of coffee and he's bouncing off the walls for hours.
I think your body learns to tolerate it to a certain extent, like a gradual tolerance. I'm sure you'd feel it if you stopped that kind of caffeine intake.
What's interesting is that if you smoke when you drink your caffeine (eg- a coffee and a cigarette) the nicotene combines with the caffeine and you only get about half the "hit" you would without the nicotene. So, if you quite smoking, you should also cut your caffeine intake by at least half, otherwise, you're getting double the amout without actually increasing what you drink.

I don't smoke and I honestly don't have that much caffeine in my diet. I never drank a lot of coffee and I have a coke maybe once every two months. Still when I do have a coffee or something it has no effect on me.
Could I maybe metabolize it differently?

I think that you can, although I can't say I have a reference like that. But if we all absorbed things exactly the same way, I think they would affect us all in exactly the same way. I gave up a lot of caffeine about 10 years ago , except for the odd diet coke. In the last 5 years I've had almost none (except for the odd bit of chocolate) and can't say I miss it. I didn't really go through a huge withdrawl or anything and the only time I really miss any of it is if I happen to be working a night shift and need that little "boost" to get me through the rest of a shift. (guess it's good I don't really do nights anymore!)
I have tried quitting coffee in the past due to Dr's orders (cardiologist's orders that is)...
It was as bad as trying to quit smoking... in fact worse.
Headache, sweating, jittery & almost on the edge of a panic attack...
I have cut my coffee intake down, as has the wife.
Not sure how, perhaps tolerances etc but I can go to sleep after a nice strong coffee & often have one around 3 or 4 AM in the morning if I need to grab an hour or two of extra sleep.
My sister can drink gobs of coffee before going to sleep at night. If I drink one cup, and I don't take a sleeping pill, I'll be up all night. I don't get it either. Must be genetics.

I was just chomping on my morning apple and I realized something. Orange juice, oranges and apples are what get me that extra kick of energy. Not caffiene!
I could never quit drinking tea. If I attempted to I'd be like a rabid dog and make the lives of everyone within a 10 mile radius of me miserable. If I was told to quit I'd say eff it and I'd take the consequences. I've hardly any bad habits and this is one I'm keeping!

Actually, no. I can stop drinking it (or ingesting it) and I get no side effects at all. Guess my body is weird LOL
