I'm sure most of you will have read about the publishers of Galloway's book "Fidel Castro Handbook" having gone into liquidation? As soon as I heard this I thought I should get a copy asap and managed to get a brand-new hardback edition off Ebay for a tenner (including delivery).
Castro publisher, MQ Publications Ltd, ceased to trade
MQ Publications Ltd ceased to trade a week ago, and all staff were fully
paid up to that date. Technically the company will not be in liquidation
until the creditors' meeting in early April, so the question of
compensation has not yet arisen.
We care deeply about George's book, indeed about all the books MQP
published, and what has happened is devastating for all concerned.
Another small publishing company has gone to the wall, a consequence of
an American bankruptcy that seriously affected our company.
We are fighting to save everything we can, and are determined to find a
solution for the Fidel Castro Handbook. I personally worked very closely
with George on the book, and accompanied him to Havana for the
interviews and the meeting with Fidel. I will be discussing all this
personally with George.
