Abducted baby returned

The 21-year-old woman accused of abducting a newborn boy from a Lubbock hospital over the weekend waived extradition in Clovis Monday.

Rayshaun Parson agreed to be extradited to Lubbock.

Parson was arrested Sunday in Clovis on suspicion of kidnapping, a Texas charge. District Attorney Matthew Chandler of Clovis says she should be back in Lubbock Monday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the family of five-day-old Mychael Darthard-Dawodu expressed their gratitude for the child’s return.

Clad in a hospital smock and seated in a wheelchair, Caisha Darthard held her son as they appeared before reporters at a Lubbock hospital.

The mother’s father, Darrell Darthard, said the family was grateful to “God and all who prayed for us through this ordeal.”

Family members took no questions.

Sunday, Lubbock police provided Clovis authorities with a vague tip, according to Officer Paul Crowe, who was responsible for finding the infant.

“I decided that this was worth the effort and three-block neighborhood canvass,” said Crowe in an interview on the NBC Today show. “And as I did that I got little tidbits that raised suspicion.”

The baby was found in the home of a woman that they believe was babysitting for Parson. Parson was found a short time later at another home.

What's amazing is this is the second kidnapped child found in Clovis recently!

I thought that was interesting too that it was the 2nd in Clovis.

The last kidnapped child was about 11 and she escaped from the truck at a gas station. He's still not been found

As for the baby it's coming out that the woman who took the infant has probably had two miscarriages recently. She was also telling people in her apartment complex she was pregant. It's not clear whether she was actually pregnant and had a miscarriage or if she was lying. She was however, planning to keep the baby as her own.
