Giant burger takes bite out of record
Tuesday, February 27, 2007
Eat your heart out, Ronald McDonald - this could be the world's largest cheeseburger. The mammoth snack weighs in almost 56kg, about the size of some children - though even the hungriest kids may struggle to finish this meal. Chefs served up a 36kg beef patty inside a 14kg bun, topped with 160 slices of cheese, 33 pickles, 12 tomatoes and five onions. Just for good measure, they slapped on top 45g each of lettuce, ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise. The epic feast has gone on sale for $379, or £193, at Denny's Beer Barrel Pub in Clearfield, Pennsylvania.

While waiting for someone ravenous - and rich - enough to tuck in, owner Denny Leigey is today filing the relevant paperwork for a place in Guinness World Records. The previous best is believed to be a 48kg hamburger in New Jersey.

45g of lettuce? Wow.

Just read about this...

I'm having a bunch of people here in May (for a webiste 'Meet up')...

A visit to this place may have to happen as it's not too far to drive to from here, get everybody to chip in & share one of these beasts.

36kg of beef? Have you got around 300 people in tow? (based on each having a quarter pounder's worth)

I find it pretty digusting really - though maybe that's because we were taught from an early age not to waste food.

I think 17 of us could make a decent dent in one of those...

Put the rest in a doggie bag (maybe a kennel lol).

If we do it, I will take pictures...

It's not far off route for a day trip we have planned to an amusement park...
Think it would have to be on the return trip tho... don't need that all over people under the roller coasters.

That's way too big and too much! But I suppose a group of people could make a dent in it.

I bet that they could make money charging people $1.00 a pop just to have their photo taken with that beastly burger.

The current world record holder for the world's longest hot dog, which was created at the Akasaka Prince Hotel in Tokyo, in 2006. The hot dog, certified by Guinness as the record holder, was 60.3m in length. This photo, by Tim Lindenschmidt, shows the hot dog after it was assembled, but before it was cut into pieces and eaten.

just think how many "lips and assholes" went into that!

... the burger and hot dog would be bitesize for some of the politicians we have to put up with.
