Coronation Street's First Prostitute In Shocking New Storyline
By: Layla West on 2/20/2007

Coronation Street is going to have it’s first ever prostitute when Leanne Battersby returns to the show. A Coronation Street source has revealed: It’s one of our racier storylines and we believe it will be a ratings winner, sparking much debate. Leanne’s always been a feisty and sexy girl who could fall off therails. She cannot see anything wrong in being an escort girl – if the money’s there she’s up for it.”

Actress Jane Danson who plays Leanne Battersby has taken time off from the role to have her first baby. In the soap, Leanne fled to Spain after the end of her relationship with Danny Baldwin, father of her ex boyfriend Jamie Baldwin ended. In the soap, Leanne turned to the vice trade whilst in Spain to make some extra cash, and will reveal all to shocked mum Janice (Vicky Entwhistle). Leanne tells her mum she is standing by her decision saying: “Face it mum. I’m earning loads of money and happy with what I do to get it.”

The Corrie insider also reveals that Janice comes to terms with Leanne’s decision, “Janice has to accept her daughter’s choice and will even start to act as her minder and secretary.” Meanwhile Leanne also sets her sights on new Underworld boss Liam Connor, played by Rob James-Collier.

Don't watch CS but wonder why they keep bringing cast members back? I mean how many times has she left. Surely they could bring in some new folk.

Reminds when when Janine Butcher on EE became a prostitute - different situation since Janine was down-and-out and doing drugs. I reckon Leanne will play the high-price hooker to the hilt - looking forward to that! It will also be interesting to see how Jamie reacts to this as well.

Thanks for the article. I liked Leanne's character, much like Cilla's in that I can't stand watching the "car wrecks" yet can't look away either :? . It will make for some interesting drama for a month or two. With another return now wondering if Frankie will return from Spain as a madame?

Never liked the Leanne character, and I think it's a big mistake to bring her back but I'm sure if David can get a freebie he'd disagree!

So now Leanne's back and they're starting to put the little inuendo jokes in.

Some cracking writing on Monday's episodes when Jamie say's she can stay at his house because "we don't want to see you walking the streets do we"

That was followed later on when she was talking about breaking in to Janice's place when Jamie said "do you need a bit of male input?"...OK maybe that was my mind working overtime...or was it?

Nope, maycm, the innuendos are flying off the shelves quicker than Betty's Hot-Pots!
