Docs ban Jade trip to India
By SARA NATHAN
TV Editor
February 06, 2007

BIG Bully Jade Goody has been banned from visiting India by doctors — because she still needs psychiatric help. Jade, 25, was NOT kicked out of the Priory clinic, as has been reported, in fact, docs discharged her on condition she return as an outpatient for twice-weekly sessions. And that means she won’t make her planned visit to India until the medics in South West London rule her fit.

A source close to Jade said: “There was some rubbish written about Jade being given the boot because she was too rude. But she felt a lot calmer about things and was allowed to sign out, if she agreed to return as a day patient.”

Jade is still on anti-depressants as she tries to salvage her shattered reputation. Her India trip was part of a PR stunt to redeem herself over the Celebrity Big Brother race row. The Sun told how officials took their time before agreeing her visa. The pal added: “Jade spent the weekend with her sons and boyfriend Jack. She is a lot better.” But the fallen star was engulfed in fresh controversy yesterday for allowing her son Bobby, three, to perch on the petrol tank of a quad bike. Safety expert Dianne Ferreira said the weekend ride with Jade and Jack, 19, “beggars belief”.

Meanwhile, show winner Shilpa Shetty said she was shocked after seeing Jo O’Meara’s emotional TV appearances. Former S Club singer Jo, who was yesterday quizzed by cops over the race row, told how she came close to suicide. Shilpa, 31, said: “It was really upsetting. I really do care about Jo and Danielle in particular. Last night she also claimed she was not invited to the BB wrap party. Shilpa said: “I knew nothing about it.”

This is incorrect...

If you recall, there was another large bed, bigger than this one that Jade slept in during the master/servant thing....

Blair 'ignored pensioners' to meet Big Brother winner Shilpa

PRIME Minister Tony Blair was today accused of ignoring pensioners lobbying outside parliament in favour of meeting Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty. Tory Roger Gale also protested that rules governing access to the Commons and use of its facilities had apparently been "flouted" during the Celebrity Big Brother winner's visit yesterday. Shilpa's brief meeting with Mr Blair formed part of a whirlwind trip to parliament marked by chaotic scenes as dozens of photographers and cameramen clamoured to get close to her.

She was invited by Labour former minister Keith Vaz, who tabled a motion complaining about the Channel 4 show that was signed by nearly 90 MPs. He accompanied her during most of the tour, which included a visit to Prime Minister's questions, a brief meeting with Mr Blair and lunch with MPs.

Meanwhile, scores of pensioners descended on parliament to protest against the Government's refusal to compensate victims of collapsed pension schemes. Mr Gale has now tabled a written question challenging Mr Blair to clarify the nature of his discussions with Shilpa. Speaking outside the Commons, he said: "As the Prime Minister and other very senior ministers did not see fit to meet with pensioners lobbying in Parliament Square yesterday but nevertheless found time to give a personal audience to a Bollywood starlet it seems reasonable to suppose that they had something very important to discuss. That being so, I think that we, and the pensioners, have a right to know what that something was."

---------------

Doesn't this old boy realise that press-coverage of pop-culture is far more important for Tony Blair than the standard of living of those who have spent their lives paying into government recommended pension schemes?

SHILPA BRACED FOR QUESTION TIME APPEARANCE

Celebrity Big Brother winner Shilpa Shetty is to consolidate her positions as the country's political sweetheart by appearing on BBC1's Question Time. The multi-lingual Bollywood actress has been invited to take her place on the topical discussion show's panel later this month, the Daily Mirror claims.

During her time in the Big Brother house last month, the 31-year-old was subject to alleged racist bullying by ex-BB contestant Jade Goody, former S-Club 7 singer Jo O'Meara and model Danielle Lloyd. But her dignified response to the taunting has seen her UK profile boosted immeasurably, earlier this week being fawned over by MPs and the prime minister Tony Blair himself during a visit to Westminster.

Shilpa has also been offered the chance to join the anti-bullying charity that shed Goody at the height of the Channel 4 show racism row. And next up on her social calendar is an audience with the Queen after being invited to attend a Commonwealth Day reception on March 12th.

Jade Goody says sorry to Indians
Big Brother contestant Jade Goody has apologised to the Indian community and Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty during a visit to the Indian capital Delhi. She was accused of racism towards Ms Shetty when they took part in the Channel Four show Celebrity Big Brother in January.

"I am sorry for the hurt and pain that my actions caused," Ms Goody told a press conference in Delhi. She is in India on what she describes as a private visit. She issued her apology at a press conference in Delhi's five star Le Meridien hotel, shown live on some of the private television channels.

Earlier in the day, Ms Goody visited a children's charity that she works with and made a donation. "After visiting these children, I realised how small my problems are. They are nothing compared to what these children go through," she said. Ms Goody denied that her visit to India and the donating of money to the charity amounted to a publicity stunt. "This is not a publicity stunt. Nobody knew I was coming here. It was a private visit. If I wanted, I could have got the UK magazines to come here with me," she said.

"The money I'm giving to the charity is because I want to help these underprivileged children," she added. Ms Goody, who is in India on a four-day visit, said on this occasion she is "busy with my charity work and will not be able to meet Shilpa [Shetty]".

She arrived in Delhi on Monday and hours after her arrival, she was spotted having lunch at a restaurant at her hotel. Since the news of Ms Goody's arrival spread, her every move has attracted media attention with dozens of camera crews following her every step. She is accompanied by three people, including two British Asians.

Jade Goody in Delhi ding-dong
From SHARON HENDRY
in New Delhi
March 01, 2007

A NEW war of words broke out yesterday between Jade Goody and Shilpa Shetty. Jade — in India on a charm offensive — said she turned down an invitation to Shilpa’s home in Mumbai. But the Bollywood beauty hit back saying Jade was never asked.

Jade, 25, has been in Delhi trying to calm the race row she sparked by abusing Shilpa, 31, on TV’s Celebrity Big Brother in January. She told reporters: “I’ve been informed Shilpa has invited me but unfortunately I have commitments with charities. If the offer is still open in the near future I’d like to see her.” But Shilpa’s spokesman in India made it clear that Jade was not invited. Dale Bhagwagar said: “Shilpa is not interested to be ‘used’ as a PR tool to Jade Goody. It’s obvious she’s here for media mileage.”

Jade emerged from a visit to an orphanage yesterday sporting a red “tikka” on her forehead — a Hindu sign of welcome. But her visit continues to flop. Indian MP Amer Singh said: “Everyone knows she’s shedding crocodile tears.” And journalist Amit Sharma spoke for many in the India media, saying: “We see it as one big damage limitation exercise. Many here have been infuriated by it.” Jade is due to fly home today.

I read somewhere that kids (street kids) got trampled on in Dehli whilst Jade was being a 'goody' at an orphanage...
The kids were outside & were crushed by a crowd of media & protesting locals.

NO ARRESTS IN BIG BROTHER RACE ROW
By Mirror.co.uk 09/03/2007

NO arrests will be made over the Big Brother race row, police said today. The Crown Prosecution Service has decided that what occurred was "clearly offensive" but "not criminal". The row sparked a diplomatic incident following the treatment of the Channel 4 show's eventual winner Shilpa Shetty.

Hertfordshire Police said: "Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, it was felt that it would not be in the public interest to effect arrests or to pursue footage through the courts." Detective Inspector Jeeta Aulak, who ran the inquiry, said: "The investigation was balanced, considering all complaints received. During inquiries, we liaised with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE). This was to ensure that all issues were considered and responded to. The CRE were happy with our response and investigation."

Assistant Chief Constable Simon Parr said: "Our investigation has now concluded and a file has been handed across to the CPS. In the absence of complaint from any of the housemates regarding behaviour - including behaviour that was not broadcast - the CPS has concluded that whilst what occurred was clearly offensive, it was not criminal."

I don't think it was necessary for any arrests to be made and I'm glad there wasn't. The situation had racist overtones but was more ignorance and bullying than anything else.

I think the parties that were involved have probably learned a valuable lesson from the experience and hopefully they'll be a lot more wise in the future.

I think Jade took the brunt of public abuse and that wasn't too fair at all, and for her own sake she's best to steer clear of reality shows in the future
