His accident was blown out of proportion in the news !
His total fine.

I think the hype was justified because most viewers expected some serious accident to happen and when it did it was bound to be a big thing.

In the interview he says he was in what is described as the worst kind of coma, so his injuries were pretty serious even if you can't see them.

This is very true.... and I wouldn't be surprised if he has some trouble in the future, like with chronic headaches or something.
