 I think more and more are seeing the government for what it is. Recent polls I've seen have gone from between only 25% and 33% approval, so the large majority of Americans do think it's doing something majorly wrong.

 Of course your definition of who the government is has a bearing on things. Anyone who thinks that Bush really calls the shots on the big decisions needs their head examining.
 
 The President is merely a figurehead for the people behind him with the real power. It doesn't really matter who you vote for, the results are ultimately the same.

 Is it any of the (known) security services or I suspect more likely some other un-named government group hiding in the shadows.
